Epic Playlist

Ok this playlist is blowing my mind right now.  I admit I haven't posted new music in a long time.  The research that goes behind finding good music is a lot of work actually.  But I got inspired today.  Needless to say, I am impressed.  Specifically by ODESZA.  I am digging their remixes.  So without further ado....

(Remember to click on the song to watch the vid on YouTube)

Koto by ODESZA

This song starts out with a very Bollywood Middle Eastern vibe.  It transitions into a catchy trancey tune but still maintains enough musical elements to keep you from entirely zoning out.  Play this in your car on a sunny day and let that dance party start.... :)

Memories That You Call (feat. Monsoonsiren) by ODESZA

So this song intrigued me.  It sounds like a modern spin off of the "World" genre.  It is like the songs you might hear playing as you're shopping at World Market or Pier 1 but way...way better.  Get lost in the chirping and you might think you're actually in a rain forest.

Similar song to the one above, but that back beat tho..... yea

Complete shift in musical genres here.  Housey clubby back beat, but if you listen to about 2:30 you start to hear that World music stuff again.  Have I mentioned yet how much I am loving ODESZA's vibe?????

THIS. SONG.  Seriously?!?!?!  I can't even with this song.  For anyone who is a fan of Divergent, you've heard this song, but you probably only heard the movie version for about 1:30 minutes.  This song embodies how much you want Four.  Yeah, Tobias Eaton, this ones for you stud.

This little tune is a dirty trappy little beat.  Super trancey. The most interesting thing about this song to me, is the hit of smooth jazz sax they pipe in mid song.  Complex and a sweet sweet beat.

That's all for now.  Enjoy.

Easy is a relative term at Crossfit...

SO....Crossfit is pretty hard right?   Well you need some pretty hard core music to get you through the squats, cleans, pull ups etc...  I mean your tiny baseball sized biceps aren't going to get you there alone.  Here's your playlist.

New Friends=New Music

Something I might like better than Harry Potter, only by a minor margin, is receiving awesome new music from my friends.  These songs are really knocking my socks off.  You know when your life gets too busy to find new music?  Well that's what my boggart would look like.... an out of date overplayed playlist.  RIDICULOUS I say to that!!!!

Tiff by POLICA

This song has a really interesting funky vibe to it.  Then the vocals chime in----haunting yet beautiful.  She may be a Death Eater or just a DE in training from Slytherin.

Constant Conversations (St. Lucia Remix) by Passion Pit

Passion Pit has done it again.  This is one of those tracks that you can NOT stop listening to.  It's like a love potion for the ears.

Overture by Patrick Wolf

Patrick Wolf is a jazzy bloke in this tune.  The instrumentals remind me of Bastille with the voice of Franz Ferdinand.  I say acio dance floor to this one....  Breakfast Club hit fa sho...

Long Journey by Allah-Las

Retro Alert!  Love this Allah-Las.....   I'm feeling a jitter bug comin on.

A Little Piece by The Jezabels

Ellie Goulding is that you?  I don't even care who it is.  Keep on keepin on Jezebels.  If she was an animagous, she's probably be a pretty little furry feline.  MEEEEE-OOOOW to this song.

Hands by Alpine

All I have to say to this one is "YAIIIIII".

Ritual Union by Little Dragon

I'm dancing in my chair right now.  Falsetto electro mmmm I likey.

It's Goin' Down by Zion & The Grouch

I have been a fan of Zion I & The Grouch since 2006.  When will the world see that The Grouch is a more original hybrid of Macklemore and Andre Nickitina?!?!?!  When people?  When will you see?!  Such a lyrical poet.

Denver Shmembers

One of my favorite things about music is how it has the uncanny ability to trigger your memories.  All of these songs have a flare about them that reminds me of my super ACCA AWESOME friends in the 303 (720) I don't know I still consider myself new here haha.  So here goes nothing.  PS all names have been left out or otherwise remained anonymous....just in case one of these fancy peeps wants to run for Minister of Magic one day....

Hurricane by MS MR

This song goes out to my fiery Schmoopy.  You are my lady diamond in the sky.  Met you at Bon Jovi and you have been my "bad medicine" ever since.  =) The song is sassy, fiery and hot just like my BFF and Cho Chang----well if you are Harry Potter, that is....   MS MR really steps out of the box with this trancy elctro ballad.  Vodka soda please!  :)  <3

Lady diamond in the sky
Wild light
Glowing bright
To guide me

Team by Lorde

This one is for my one and only Red Sheep.  Because I will eternally be on your team girl.  Just like Hermoine used the Confundus charm on Cormac McLaggen during quidditch try outs so Ron could secure the keeper spot on Gryfindor.  I got you girl.   ACCA SCUSE me......

Living in ruins of the palace within my dreams
And you know, we're on each other's team

Supreme(Niva Remix)  by Postiljonen

This next shout out is semi hilarious BECAUSE what had happen was......  My awesome co worker and I went on a business trip and went out to din din at the Holiday Inn(really nice winery in the ATL actually).  AND everyone thought we were....get this....a COUPLE!   SOOOOO anyways we rolled with it and now we read each others minds...kind of like when Snape tries to condition Harry to block Voldemort from reading his thoughts.  Yea.  Exactly like that.  "Get out of my head!"  Yea girl.... One Love. HP

When all we had was found
In the only place we know
That's when I took you under my wing

Thanks for bringing me under your wing ;) haha

Chinatown by Starcadian

WOW!  This band is UNREAL!  They have a Daft Punk, Pheonix vibe about them with a hint of Star Trek(STAR-cadian).  Get it?   I HAVE to dedicate this one to my EDM partner in crime.  My favorite only non red head in the fam, duck suit wearing, riding dirty in the 'Sclade-- friend.  If he had a patronus, his charm would be Chuck Norris because he's that cool.

I See Fire by Ed Sheeran

And last but DEFINITELY not least, my sexy man.  So this is super nerdy.  Just watched the Hobbit, and this song played during the credit reel.  It is a lovely tune that talks about nobly going into battle.  I dedicate this one to my sweets because he is...simply put---my knight in shining armor.  LOVE LOVE LOVE this Ed Sheeran tune.  I picture Ed singing this by a hand made fire or "300-style" in front of an army of Warby Parker, Chuck Taylor clad army of hipsters. My sexy little ballad for my amazing man.....

Couch Potato by Shortstraw

This last song is not for anybody specific.  It is dedicated to the lazy person that lives inside of each and every one of us.  The ironic fact about this song is it is SUPER jazzy.  It made my shoulders want to really "jiggy with it" in the car.  I hope you had the same reaction or else I should probably go see Madam Pomfrey at the infirmary.

I apologize for the crazy-pants Harry Potter references, but the music was worth it right?!?!?!?!

Enjoy my friends.

Snowy Day Music

It's snowing...and cold...winter time is almost here.  That can also mean an early dose of SAD.  Seasonal Affective Disorder.  The Mayo Clinic defines this mood killer as: "a type of depression that occurs at the same time every year. If you're like most people with seasonal affective disorder, your symptoms start in the fall and may continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody."
Well I say funk that...litterally...musical prozac if you will.  This remedy should be taken daily.  Side effects include toe tapping, chair dancing, with a chance of karaoke.  Mixing this with alcohol will only exagerate the effects of this radical playlist. (Click on the song title to listen on Youtube.)

Operate by ASTR
The bass in the song goes pretty hard.  Adjust the bass and treble in your car accordingly......or don't because this song is worth blowing your speakers. "Call me the doctor...."
Cadence by Fractures
Just the right amount of whining about this girl drving him crazy mixed with a trancy melody makes this song a two thumbs up from me.
The Good Life by Elizabeth Rose
Elizabeth starts this song out by encouraging us to multiply, divide, add and subtract.  "Do the math".  Arithmetic never sounded so good....
Overjoyed by Bastille
"Oh I feel overjoyed, when you listen to my words.."  My theory is Bastille has had some pretty irrate conversations with SIRI.
You're the One for Me by Great Good Fine OK
A falsetto on top of a indie pop beat...Get. Out. Of. Town.
Oblivion by Bastille
When a band can incorporate the cello into their song, I get really excited about it.  This song is beautiful. Enough said.
Pompeii by Bastille
Sounds like it belongs in the Lion King soundtrack.  Simba approved!
Simple Song by The Shins
"Don't go thinkin you gotta be tough.."  Yea!  What they said.  The Shins aren't tough guys.  They wear pink sometimes.  They watch the Notebook and shed a single tear.
Jump into the Fog by The Wombats

The UK has produced some pretty fantastic people.  Jk Rowling, Alfred Hitchcock, Elton John, Isaac Newton just to name a few.  The Wombats live up to their country's illustrious track record.  "I've made some bad decisions, I'll admit that freely, It's just that life tastes sweeter when it's wrapped in debauchery."  Looks like somebody's been hanging out with Russell Brand a little too much lately.

Enjoy responsibly and DON'T let SAD happen to you.

Fine print: 1 in 100 people do not see the prescribed results listed above, but these people do not have great taste in music.  In extreme doses this playlist has been known to cause overwhelming bliss.

Summer Love

It's summertime...  My fondest memories go back to trips to the lake.  Packing your Jeep with friends... the stereo max volume, playing all day in the sun.   But the trip back home was always the same.  Tired.  Satisfied. Nostalgic.  Thinking you will NEVER forget what it feels like to be in THIS moment.  Well guess what....that was years ago and yet you STILL remember.  Something about the windows down, warm breeze in your hair, the feeling of HOPE,  the thought "I have the ENTIRE world in front of me."  Nervous-excited-young-free.  Don't ever forget that feeling....

This playlist brings back those memories.  Live life to the fullest.  Never forget these times and love Every. Single. Minute.

I'm back...well...for now.

I have to apologize for disappearing off the face of the earth for MONTHS!  WHOA I'm back.  My bad.  As a way of saying I'm sorry........here are a bunch of songs that I have been stockpiling.  Really great stuff....

The reason I have been so nonexistent is WORK.  I celebrate my free time by spending it OFF of the computer since I stare at this thing all day errrrry day, but I do have a chance to let my mind wander into the magical delicious world of music so here goes nothing...

I Am Legion [Noisia x Foreign Beggars] - Make Those Move

This song goes really hard.  Ground shaking, wanna go bench-press sort of music.  Something about rapping with a british accent makes you next-level cool.  Sorry Tinie Tempah, there's a fine line between commercial radio hip-hop and indy pop, and it's called selling out...

What are they even singing about in this song?!?!?!  Idontevencare!  Funky Bromosapiens.

If I wanted a modern take on an 80's montage, I would definately use this song.  Trancey, clubby, with a hint of shoulder pads.  Digging this song right now.  It really makes me want to put my leg warmers on.  I think my ponytail is sneaking over to the side as we speak.

Dig the electro-pop love ballad.   Can see this being played in a break up scene of a Rom Com aka Romantic Comedy.

Literally just started dancing in my seat IN PUBLIC. Sorry fellow humans, this song is an instant party.  Go car dance your ass off.

Get out of town!!!!!  Jay-Z all trappy and dirty.  You stop it J!   For real this song...is sick.   Takes you back to prom....if only you were so musically savvy back then.  Oh well Avril Levigne seemed cool at the time too.....

Plane to See

Attention all passengers: you are free to dance about the cabin.  It's safe to say, if your music makes you want to groove...while plugged into headphones...on an airplane...surrounded by hundreds of strangers---you, sir or ma'am (gotta be PC), are doing something right.  I am having a one-person fiesta here on United flight 1730 service to party town.  Granted I may have spiked my Low-Carb Monster, but--HEY--there's no party police on this flight.

Fasten your seat belt this is going to be a funky ride...

Miracle Mile by Cold War Kids **Don't judge this song till you hear it.  I know, I know you're thinking: really, Kaitie, Cold War Kids? Pipe down and listen  (=**
Bones by Josh Record
Lullaby by Lord Huron
Manhattan by Cat Power  **Watch the music vid.  Cat is the BEE'S KNEES or the CAT'S MEOW... I haven't figured out which.  Also her pink duct tape on the vintage leather jacket screams "I shopped at thrift shops WAY before you, Macklemore."
Berlin Lovers by Still Corners

Want to go to the restroom and not rest...  <---Bridesmaids Reference

PS: If United had to wear the sorting hat it would be placed in Slytherin...I might go as far to say its a distant relative to Voldemort... Avada Kadavra United.

Catch me if you can...

Fast and slow.  People from every walk of life.  Flip flops, floor length coats.  Excited and anticipating.  Dreading and loathing.  The feelings are tangible.    What other venue can you think of that facilitates this overflow of emotion?  Maybe it's the mimosa talking, but I am hooked.  This place is breathing.  It is a living, changing organism filled with people arriving and departing.  Who knew being in a room filled with strangers would make you feel so alive…

Cuz it feels so good...

Sometimes life just clicks.  You know what I mean.  You crush at work, actually WANT to go to the gym. And I mean meeting new people and getting outside of your comfort zone is really challenging but reaps some great rewards.  I'm not trying to gloat, but I'm happy.  It feels so right.  SOOOOO it wasn't always this great.  There were some pretty rocky roads to get here.  The only thing that has consistently perked up my mood is MUSIC!  These songs are really jazzy.  Cherub has a way making you feel like you are watching an 80's Jazzercise video(hint the first song) but yet they have a modern hip spin on electronica.  Hopefully these songs enhance your good mood or turn that frown upside down.  This life is pretty awesome, you just have to soundtrack it....
